Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most sessions last for 50 minutes. However, there are times where more time is clinically beneficial, so we may book longer sessions lasting 1 hour 15 minutes.
Longer appointments are recommended for initial appointments, and can sometimes be helpful for sessions involving more in-depth emotional processing such as EMDR, imagery rescripting, or other trauma work.
Note that medicare rebates are based on session length, and if you are late to session you may have a shorter session associated with a lower Medicare rebate (where applicable).
-
We prefer to schedule longer initial appointments (up to 1 hour and 15 minutes) to allow for more thorough assessment and discussion of a preliminary treatment plan (where feasible).
This gives us both more time to get to know one another and to check that we are the right fit. It can also help free up time in your remaining sessions to focus more on active treatment.
However, please note that this is optional. You may book a standard 50 minute appointment for your initial session if needed (e.g., timing or financial considerations).

Most sessions are held either in my consulting room at Blaxland (23 Hope St) or via telehealth.
From time to time it may be clinically helpful for sessions to occur in-person but outside of consulting rooms. This might be to facilitate exposure or skill practicing in the real world, or potentially where symptoms (e.g. agoraphobia) mean that it is not possible to leave your home. However, out-of-office sessions are not always available and incur additional fees.
-
There is usually plenty of free on-street parking directly in front of the building, or across the road in the council car park.
-
Yes, Blaxland train station is a short walk away (approximately 5 minutes).

To keep staff and other clients safe, I ask that you please contact me to change your appointment to telehealth if you are sick. Due to lived experience of having and caring for others with health conditions, even a simple cold can have a bigger impact on me, my family, and my business.

We all have different needs, and I try my best to make therapy as accessible as I can.
As a rule, I don't wear perfume or use strong fragrances (such as candles or room sprays). However, other practitioners who lease other rooms in the building may.
Our building and my therapy room are accessible by ramp. However, I'm sorry to note that the bathroom is not accessible (down several stairs) and the waiting room can get a little tight to navigate.
If you prefer (or need) to wait outside, I'm happy to collect you from outside, just let me know in advance via email.
I am very happy for you to stim or use sensory tools during your session.
If I can make adjustments to make therapy more accessible for you (e.g., adjusting lighting, wearing a respirator), please let me know.

If you have a mental healthcare plan from your GP and provide us with a valid referral, you may be able to access a Medicare rebate for up to 10 appointments each calendar year.
The current Medicare rebate is $149.05 (as of August 2026) for clinical psychology appointments held in our consulting rooms or via telehealth that last for at least 50 minutes.
Please note that this rebate is based on session duration; if you are late and have a shorter session as a result, different item numbers with different rebates may apply. Please note that this information is subject to change.
-
We are usually able to submit your application for a rebate to Services Australia/Medicare using our secure client management software (Zanda Health) on the day of your appointment. Otherwise, you may submit your receipt to MyGov online or via the app.

We ask that you please provide at least 2 business days’ notice if you need to reschedule or cancel your appointment, in order to receive a full refund. If you provide less than 1 business day of notice, the full session fee will be incurred. For cancellations or reschedules made with between 1 and 2 business days’ notice, 50% of the session fee will be incurred.
We appreciate that there may be extenuating circumstances (e.g. a death or hospitalisation of a loved one). If you believe that this is relevant to your circumstances, we encourage you to discuss this with your psychologist. However, we are a small business and it is often not practical to fill appointments with other clients without adequate notice. If it is difficult for you to get to session due to less acute concerns (e.g., a minor cold, transport issues), we encourage you to consider a telehealth appointment.
